THE questioning of African National Congress chief whip Tony Yengeni last week by arms probe investigators was based on allegations made in written submissions under oath and not only on newspaper reports about his acquisition of a Mercedes Benz, said Sipho Ngwema, the spokesman for the National Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

He said Yengeni was interviewed in order to clear up information which related to the procurement of SA's R43bn arms package.
