President Thabo Mbeki had received Justice Minister Penuell Maduna's recommendations on whether Judge Willem Heath should be included in the controversial arms procurement probe, a ministerial spokesperson said yesterday.
Paul Setsetse added that Maduna would reveal details of his advice to Mbeki on Monday.
Mbeki has to issue a presidential proclamation before Heath can be included in the investigation. His announcement is expected on Tuesday.
The government has been under mounting pressure to include the Heath Special
Investigating Unit in the probe.
Parliament has named the Heath unit as one of the four agencies that should
conduct the probe.
The African National Congress has indicated that it is against the involvement of the Heath unit in the investigation, while opposition parties have favoured its participation.
