IT SEEMS former defence minister Joe Modise has not been keeping his head below the parapet to avoid questions relating to his role in SA's controversial arms deal and the industrial offset programme.

An assistant says Modise had been in bed with pneumonia for the past six to seven weeks, and "the media are not helping things. They are now printing all these lies and rubbish about him."
