Parliament
- Parliament's ethics committee on Tuesday finalised its report on allegations
of irregularities concerning the multi-billion rand arms deal.
Earlier this month, the committee decided to
postpone an inquiry into whether African National Congress Chief Whip Tony
Yengeni failed to disclose a luxury vehicle as a gift or benefit, pending a
report by the three agencies investigating the arms deal.
The report adopted on Tuesday was opposed in the
committee by several opposition parties, including the Democratic Alliance, Pan
Africanist Congress, and the United Democratic Movement.
It, however, includes the minority view that
Yengeni should appear before the committee in person to answer claims.
The report is expected to be debated in the
National Assembly within the next two weeks.
