Terence Nombembe, a partner at auditing firm Gobodo Incorporated, has been appointed chief executive officer in the office of the auditor-general.
Nombembe will also fill the post of deputy auditor-general, according to a statement issued by the AG's office on Friday.
"Mr Nombembe brings to the office of the auditor-general a firm commitment to supporting mechanisms for proper governance within government, and to speeding up the development of black chartered accountants," it said.
Nombembe is a chartered accountant and managed the Cape Town branch of Gobodo Incorporated.
The appointment is effective from June 1, the statement said.
