The corruption and fraud case against former African National Congress chief whip, Tony Yengeni, and businessman Michael Woerfel, was postponed in the Pretoria Commercial Crimes Court on Friday.

Magistrate Bill Moyses postponed the case against Yengeni and Woerfel, the suspended managing director of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS), following a defence submission that they had been given insufficient time to study documents handed to them on Thursday.

The documents listed further particulars of the charges against the men.

The charges against them related to an alleged 47 percent discount given to Yengeni when he bought a luxury Mercedes Benz 4X4 in a deal apparently organised by Woerfel.

It was alleged that Woerfel sold the car to Yengeni for R182 653, which was almost half the retail price of R349 950.

Yengeni sold the infamous Mercedes for R220 000 in November last year.

According to a revised charge sheet, handed to the court, the pair would face two charges of corruption and one of fraud.

One of the corruption charges against Yengeni, was alternated with a fraud count.
