Parliament has released the public register of members' interests in which the former ANC Chief Whip, Tony Yengeni, confirmed his links with the controversial forestry company Zama Resources Corporation.
Yengeni, who refused to comment when the Sunday Times first revealed that the company had sponsored his legal fees, submitted a one-page declaration.
In the document, he said he held five million preference shares in Zama. He did not specify the value of the shares, saying the company was still tendering.
Yengeni also lists suspended Zama chief executive Mcebisi Mlonzi as a sponsor of the four full-page newspaper advertisements he took out to explain how he acquired a luxury 4x4 Mercedes-Benz ML320.
Mlonzi is also listed as the sponsor of "trial fees and expenses" for his fraud and corruption trial, which is still under way.
Zama first came under the spotlight when the Sunday Times revealed that it had given Public Enterprises chief director Andile Nkuhlu R55 000 while vying for a R335-million state forestry contract that the company later won.
