BAE Systems, SA's preferred strategic equity partner in Denel, was awarded a $51m contract from the US Army to provide, among others, logistical support to the US Army Garrison in Hawaii, the company said in a statement yesterday.
BAE Systems Technical Services would provide support in maintenance, transportation, supply and services for organisations attached to the US Army in the Pacific and the Pacific basin over five years.
"The contract represents strategic new business growth in the government outsourcing arena and in the areas of operations and logistics," the company said.
"Work will be performed and managed by technical services personnel at Schofield Barracks and Fort Shafter on the island of Oahu and at the Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii."
And corporate support would be provided from company offices in Fort Walton Beach, Florida, the company said.
