A Durban woman who laid a charge of assault against Public Protector Selby Baqwa has dropped the charge.
KwaZulu-Natal director of public prosecutions Mokotedi Mpshe on Friday morning issued a brief statement saying he would not prosecute Baqwa.
"I have decided to decline to prosecute the Public Protector, Advocate Selby Baqwa, on a charge of assault. The complainant has indicated that she no longer wants to proceed with this matter," Mpshe said.
The charge against Baqwa was made on November 7 after he allegedly slapped Dolly Mkhulisi at the Durban City Lodge on October 30 while he was attending the 13th international ombudsman conference.
