Defence Minister Mosiuoa Lekota and former ANC chief whip Tony Yengeni will know their fate on Tuesday when their party's disciplinary committee announces its decisions.

The African National Congress National disciplinary committee would make the announcement at a press briefing in Johannesburg, the party said on Monday.

ANC secretary-general Kgalema Motlanthe and national disciplinary committee chairman Kader Asmal would address the media.

The defence minister, who is also the ANC chairman, contravened Parliament's code of conduct when he failed to declare his interests in a petroleum distribution company, a wine cellar, and properties in Bloemfontein and Durban. He was reprimanded by the National Assembly and fined a week's salary in June.

Yengeni pleaded guilty to fraud and was acquitted of corruption after a plea bargain in February this year.

He was given a four year sentence for accepting a 47 percent discount for a luxury 4X4 in return for using his influence to favour Daimler Benz Aerospace in the arms deal. The former ANC chief whip is currently out on bail pending an appeal of his sentence.
