When the Sunday Times reportedly fired Ranjeni Munusamy, I became worried about the future of freedom of the press in South Africa.

But after following the Hefer Commission it became clear to me that Munusamy was used for the benefit of the accusers of Bulelani Ngcuka.

She has disgraced the journalistic fraternity by conspiring to assassinate the character of a person holding a national responsibility.

I wonder whether she realises that she has nearly put the whole justice system in disrepute.

It is clear that the whole saga is about personal vendettas.

I have a high regard for the Sunday Times for standing up for the truth.
