In a surprise twist, mining magnate Brett Kebble has been invited to give evidence to the Hefer Commission.
Kebble's counsel, former judge Willem Heath, said they were considering the request.
Kebble has accused National Director of Public Prosecutions Bulelani Ngcuka of abusing his position as chief prosecutor of the country.
Last week, Kebble, who was investigated by the Scorpions for alleged fraud, entered the fray by publicly accusing Ngcuka of pursuing a private agenda.
