The ANC headquarters in Johannesburg has been burgled, and computer information removed, on the eve of a probe into apartheid-era spying.

But the ANC says it has no evidence that sensitive information was stolen during the burglary at its headquarters in Luthuli House in Sauer Street.

The party was responding to allegations that a computer hard drive stolen during the burglary on Tuesday contained sensitive information about high-powered individuals and party structures.

"The ANC has no evidence that sensitive information was stolen during this incident," said ANC spokesperson Steyn Speed.
