Naval officer Commander Brian Power would be cashiered within the next few days following confirmation of his earlier conviction on scandalous behaviour, the South African Navy said yesterday.

Commander Power would be stripped of his rank, medals and uniform buttons before being discharged, navy spokeswoman Commander Lilla du Preez said in Pretoria.

The ceremony would be conducted in Durban by commanding officer, Captain L Reeders.

Cdr (Power) was found guilty of scandalous behaviour in September last year.

The charge arose from allegations that Cdr Power had sexual intercourse with Luanne Edwards, the wife of one of his subordinates. The court martial was told that the trangression took place at Mrs Edwards' Durban home.
