The first representative of French arms manufacturer Thomson CSF, Pierre Moynot, is expected to testify for fraud and corruption accused Schabir Shaik in the Durban High Court on Friday.

Moynot's attendance was confirmed by Shaik's brother, Mo Shaik.

The State alleges that Thomson CSF is the company from which Shaik solicited a bribe of half a million rand per annum for Deputy President Jacob Zuma. This in exchange for protection during alleged irregularities in South Africa's multi-billion rand arms acquisition deal.

During his cross-examination Shaik let it slip that a Frenchman was testify but refused to name the person.

Moynot was the former South African director of Thomson CSF. The position was later filled by Alain Thetard who has refused to come to South Africa to testify for the State or the defence.
