Durban businessman Schabir Shaik is expected to apologise formally on Monday morning for his outburst at court on Friday.

He had called one of the prosecutors in his trial a "racist" and threatened to "sort" him out after the trial.

Monday is also the last day of trial for the moment. It was expected that the Durban High Court would adjourn until April 4.

It is believed there are more witnesses in line to testify when the trial resumes next month.

Shaik has pleaded not guilty to charges of corruption and fraud. One of the corruption charges deals firstly with what is alleged to be a "general corrupt relationship" between Shaik and Deputy President Jacob Zuma.

The other deals with an allegation that Shaik had solicited a bribe from French arms company Thomson for Zuma.

Shaik has privately apologised to advocate Anton Steynberg for his outburst on Friday, but his counsel Francois van Zyl SC was expected to formally place his apology on record on Monday morning.

It is also believed that the state would not pursue its threat to have Shaik's bail conditions amended to bar him from "insulting" its team.

Leader of the prosecution Billy Downer SC has indicated he expects to wrap up his questions on Monday. If there is time left, the next defence witness is expected to be Zuma's state legal adviser, Linda Makhathini.
