The Schabir Shaik fraud and corruption trial will only resume on Thursday morning after Shaik failed to make it to court on Wednesday due to ill health.
On Tuesday, the trial adjourned after the lunch break after a doctor recommended that Shaik a spend a day in bed following a blood pressure problem. Shaik's lawyer, Francois van Zyl told the court his client also had a respiratory tract infection.
On Thursday, the state is expected to wrap up its argument for the admissibility of seven documents to which the defence is opposed.
The principal document is the infamous encrypted facts which the state says points to a clear conspiracy between Shaik and Deputy President Jacob Zuma and Alain Thetard, the South African boss of French arms company Thompson CSF. Shaik is alleged to have solicited a R500,000 per annum bribe for Zuma from Thompson CSF in exchange for protection during investigation into arms irregularity.
