I refer to the letter from L Kaunda (the Chief Director Communication in the Presidency) about Deputy President Jacob Zuma's flights to kwaZulu-Natal over the last two years.
The letter, "Taking government to the people doesn't come cheap", (The Star November 23), does not attempt to deal with Zuma's motives for flying almost every week to Natal; I think he has enough on his plate as the Shaik saga unfolds.
I have a problem with Kaunda's response.
Does she really expect us to swallow this thing about Zuma's needing to meet the people in terms of democratic imperatives? Zuma flew just to one place; if he wanted to "meet the people" he should have gone all over the place!
Kaunda, like so many others in this government, is not worth the money she is paid; she disregards the people she is supposed to inform.
