The police are still not able to identify what was taken from the house of the mother of the alleged victim in the Jacob Zuma rape case, following a burglary there on Wednesday.

Although there is speculation that the burglary is related to the Zuma saga, the police said they were investigating an ordinary housebreaking.

A security guard posted at the house in KwaMashu, Durban, was tied up by five men carrying guns. They then entered the house through the roof. The guard was found early on Thursday morning.

Captain Gugu Sabela said yesterday that the incident was not related to the Zuma saga

"It has not yet been established what was taken from the house during the robbery, and the thieves have not been identified," she said. "The investigation is still in its early stages and we will know the results once the investigators gather more information."

Selvan Odayar, the owner of One-Stop Security in Sea Cow Lake, north of Durban, which employs the guard, could not be contacted for comment yesterday.
