How
quaint to hear Luthando Nogcinisa of the SA Communist Party in Khayelitsha talk
about the white bourgeoisie...from Gavin Hillyard, Somerset West.
Let's
face it, communism is a discredited ideology which has had no long-term success
anywhere and has little chance of success in Africa or elsewhere.
With
regard to the Jacob Zuma issue, Mr Nogcinisa is quite right that it is premature
to assume his guilt or innocence before the legal process has run its course.
Equally, though, isn't it premature to support him in such a robust manner
before the ruling of the courts?
I want to know from Mr Nogcinisa and
others of his ilk if they will accept the ruling of the courts - after all, Mr
Zuma demanded his day in court last year and now he has got it.
Mr
Nogcinisa acknowledges that the vast majority of South Africans agreed with Mr
Zuma's removal and then says they will not be at the ANC National Conference in
2007. Surely the delegates should take note of the wishes of the majority when
casting succession votes?
In my opinion, we have far
more pressing problems facing our country than succession squabbles.
Shouldn't we be applying ourselves in these areas and letting justice take its
course?
