The letter by Maggs Naidu "Zuma: trial in court or trial by media" (The Witness, October 14) has reference.
I would like Naidu to tell me more about what the sentence, "He [Zuma] has made and continues to make a difference to the lives of millions of South Africans across the racial, economic and social divides of our country and indeed across the continent" means.
Could Naidu please be specific about these credentials? I would like to know exactly what former deputy president Jacob Zuma is doing for the poor, for the homeless, for the sick. I would like precise and specific things, not just a patriotic statement. Tell me about the many school feeding schemes he supports, not by name, but by deed. How many sick are cared for by this person?
I know many people who do a lot of good on the quiet, people who take Aids orphans into their homes and raise them privately, relying on friends, donations and their church. I know of people going into townships to help families afflicted by Aids. I know of people paying school fees for the children of the gardener or the domestic worker. I know many people who just help according to their means when they see the need. These are the unsung heroes of our country. Now I would like to hear about the activities of the "sung" hero, too.
