Jacob Zuma's lawyer has described the state as going on a fishing expedition.
"They hauled Jacob Zuma before court and charged him with corruption, so why then raid his house?" Michael Hulley asked yesterday after raids on the former deputy president's homes.
"One is puzzled and concerned by the search and seizure (of documents and computers) at Mr Zuma's homes.
"The Scorpions had time to investigate the case but their tactic is to charge first and investigate later."
Hulley said the state was engaging in a fishing expedition and had time to investigate the Zuma affair five years ago.
It would have been expected that the National Prosecuting Authority would have gathered all relevant information prior to charging Zuma - not after.
Hulley added that his client was coping, and "fine".
Meanwhile, documents taken in raids on the home and offices of Zuma's legal adviser, Julie Mahomed, were placed in the hands of the Durban High Court yesterday.
Mahomed accompanied Scorpions investigators when they handed over the documents to the registrar.
She is considering contesting the validity of the warrant that allowed Scorpions investigators to raid her premises.
She had not seen the founding affidavit upon which a judge made the order to warrant the raid on her home and offices and would have to study it before making a decision on whether to make an urgent application to have the documents returned.
Mahomed would not comment on the type of documents seized.
