Wrestling and show promoter Shane Jaipal, who was recently sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment for the murder of his former lover in 1997, was granted leave on Friday by Mr Justice Hillary Squires in the Durban High Court to appeal against his sentence.

Jaipal's application for bail was adjourned until this Tuesday.

He was found guilty of murdering Argentina Loutsaris, 39, by dousing her with petrol and setting her alight on the Bluff in Durban on October 21 1997.
