Former Deputy President Jacob Zuma was not the only South African leader to have received funds from Schabir Shaik, a supporter charged outside Durban Magistrate's Court on Tuesday morning.

Promise Dlamini, a switchboard operator at a Durban Hospital, went straight from her all night shift to join crowds airing their views outside the court where Zuma will appear on Tuesday.

"If you look at how the trouble started *1 for Zuma, I would say there's a snake *2 because he's not the only leader who received funds from Schabir Shaik.

"Why do they not investigate all the other leaders?" she asked.*3

Even though only friends of Zuma, his family and accredited media will be allowed to attend the hearing in Court 12 at Durban Magistrate's Court, his supporters held a vigil outside on Monday night.

One of them, Tom Madlala, a SA Communist Party chairman from Port Shepstone, said he was there to support Zuma who was going through a crisis.

"Zuma should be the next president," he said.

"The (American) FBI and CIA are trying to rule South Africa through the Scorpions *4 by using the Scorpions to discredit Zuma and other ANC members who support the workers and the poor."

Madlala said he wanted Zuma's case to be withdrawn.

Joy Madlala said she was angry because everyone knew Zuma was innocent *5.

"Why are they charging him before he goes to the magistrate?" *6

With acknowledegment to Sapa.

*1  How did the trouble start?

*2  Must be a elephant snake - a python?

*3  This is one wise lady.

*4  This must surely be sedition or treason and subject of either prosecution (but I suppose it's hard to prosecute oneself) or the Great Elephant's Commission of Enquiry.

*5  Except His Lordship, Hilary G. Squires, and about 20 million others south of the Zambezi and 2 billion others elsewhere.

*6  Is this a quote worthy of being quoted by SAPA?
