Cape Times readers were asked in yesterday's poll on the IOL website: "Should Jacob Zuma be charged in light of the Schabir Shaik judgment?"

Of the 1 756 readers who answered, a majority of 87% (1 522) clicked the "yes" box, while 13% (234) answered "no".

Among those who said "yes":

Sindi Moolman: "It takes two to tango. If Schabir is guilty of corruption, the corruptee is also guilty. The state must reopen its case."

Victor: "The NPA must do their preparations properly before they say anything . If they have a case, it will be correct to charge JZ then."

Some of those saying "no":

Siabonga said: "As an avid supporter of the ANCYL, I feel that he (Zuma) was proven not guilty in a court of law and therefore should not be further prosecuted."

Duncan responded: "Let's remember that Zuma was never found guilty *1, simply that the NPA had bungled the case. Let's hope, if they decide to prosecute again, that they get all their ducks in a row and that, whatever the outcome, it is respected by all South Africans."

With acknowledgement to the Cape Times.

*1       He clearly means :
"Let's remember that Zuma was never found not guilty."
