It is "hardly likely" that Durban businessman Schabir Shaik will be present next week when judgment in his appeal hearings is delivered, his brother Mo said on Tuesday.
"These are valuable hours that he needs to spend with his family," Mo told Sapa.
"He did not attend the appeal proceedings, and it is hardly likely that he will be present when judgment is delivered on Monday."
Mo added: "We haven't quite made up our minds about it."
The Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) in Bloemfontein earlier said judgment in Shaik's appeal against his convictions on corruption and fraud will be delivered on Monday morning.
On September 26, the SCA reserved judgment on the matter.
The next day, the court reserved judgment in a civil appeal against an asset forfeiture order of about R34-million.
Shaik was convicted in July last year in the Durban High Court of corruption and fraud.
Judge Hilary Squires sentenced him to 15 years in prison on each of two corruption counts, and another three years for fraud. The sentences were to run concurrently.
Shaik stayed home while his appeal was heard in September, saying he chose to "spend some quality time with my five-month-old little boy".
