The march by members of the Congress of South African Trade Unions to Durban's National Prosecuting Authority offices will go ahead as planned on Friday, a Cosatu official in KwaZulu-Natal said.

"The march is on today (Friday). The police have apologised because the mistake was on their part," said Zet Luzipho, Cosatu's provincial secretary in KwaZulu-Natal.

On Thursday, Sdumo Dlamini, the union's chairperson in KwaZulu-Natal, said the march has been called off as Cosatu was not granted permission by the police.

eThekwini metro police refused to grant permission for the march, saying that the police and eThekwini metro police did not have sufficient resources to police the march.

Cosatu had planned the march to demand that the NPA does not further postpone the Jacob Zuma trial.

"It is not a matter that we are very happy about," Dlamini said on Thursday.

But on Friday, Luzipho said he was on his way to the march as police have agreed to the union's members marching on the NPA.

"They only called us at 7pm (on Thursday) to say we must go ahead. I'm driving there now," he said.
