By
placing two disgraced Travelgate MPs on its proportional representation list for
the local government elections, the ANC has sent a loud
message: corruption pays.
Pamela Nana Mnandi and Ruth
Ntshungulana-Bhengu pleaded guilty to defrauding the parliamentary travel scheme
and were fined R40 000 and R43 000 respectively.
They were removed from
Parliament. Now they have emerged in electable positions on the KZN list.
Ntshungulana-Bhengu tops the Ugu District Municipality list with the possibility
of becoming mayor of this South Coast area.
We wonder what skills she may bring to this office. Mnandi is 17th
for Umgungundlovu which includes areas around Pietermaritzburg.
This
underlines again that all the ANC’s promises of fighting
corruption amount to nothing, lutho, niks, zilch.
