Police looking into the break-in at a Durban flat used by Jacob Zuma have found a "bag of stuff", which has been sent for forensic testing.

A crowbar was used to force the security gate and front door on Monday.

Zuma's attorney, Michael Hulley, said documents were rifled through, and termed the break-in "sinister".

Yesterday, police denied reports that a bag found in a dustbin outside the flat contained papers belonging to Zuma.

Police Director Phindile Radebe said: "They (police) only took it to do forensic testing and to see if they could get fingerprints from it."

Fingerprinting teams had been to the flat and police would continue to investigate.

There was still no evidence to suggest anything was stolen.

The flat is not owned by Zuma - he occasionally stays there when he's in Durban.
