Things are looking rosier for former SA National Defence Force acquisitions chief Chippy Shaik.

Two weeks after Justice Minister Brigitte Mabandla told parliament he had never been the subject of a criminal investigation and was not in the National Prosecuting Authority's sights, the furore over his two passports has also been resolved.

A department inquiry found Shaik possessed two valid passports. He was told to return one of them, said Home Affairs spokesperson Jacky Mashapu.

"The person indicated that the passport was lost and he reported it to the police. The department then cancelled the passport."
