Although Tony Yengeni's first day of correctional supervision yesterday was not closely monitored by Correctional Services, this will change today when his file arrives at the department's provincial head office in Cape Town.

The Cape Town Community Corrections office, which falls under the department's provincial head office, will decide before the end of the week into which of its registered organisations to slot Yengeni for his compulsory 16 hours of community service per month.

A senior member of the department said Yengeni's compliance with the conditions of his release would be monitored closely as soon as his file had been transferred from Malmesbury Medium A to Cape Town.

As with all other inmates released under the same conditions, monitoring would include regular evaluation by a psychologist and a social worker.
