Disgraced former ANC chief whip Tony Yengeni will have to perform community service twice a month as part of his correctional supervision conditions.

After his release today, he will have to go to the Cape Town Community Corrections Centre, where a parole officer will be assigned to him.

Department of Correctional Services sources said convict-ed fraudster Yengeni would be under strict correctional supervision, effectively placing him under house arrest.

They said Yengeni would submit to the following pro-cedures when he arrived at the centre:

Fill out forms and be formally admitted.

Be introduced to his parole officer.

Be warned to obey parole conditions.

Be told to visit his parole officer once a month.

The other conditions include:

Seeing the parole officer at the centre if the officer hears of alleged violations of the conditions.

Being at home at pre-scribed times of the day and night when the parole officer comes to visit.

Getting a prospective em-ployer to furnish the parole officer with a letter, officially stamped, stating his times of work.

Working from Monday to Friday only.

Getting four hours of "spare time" once a month over a weekend to do his shopping.

Applying to his parole officer for permission if he wants to leave home over weekends.

Not consuming drugs and alcohol.

Serving the rest of his sentence behind bars if neighbours or residents in his area complain about his misbehaving.

Being taken in if some-body lays a criminal charge against him.

Being taken in if it is found he cannot adjust to life outside.

Possibly doing 16 hours of community service a week, depending on the parole officer.
