A group of senior Western Cape ANC leaders arrived at Malmesbury prison on Monday to welcome back former ANC chief whip and convicted fraudster Tony Yengeni.

The group, in a convoy of black luxury vehicles, included ANC provincial secretary Mcebisi Skwatsha and Yengeni's wife Lumka, as well as his children.

Wheels24 sent photographer William McIntosh to snap some of these luxury cars.

Among the cars at Malmesbury prison were a Range Rover Sport, a Mercedes CLS and a BMW Z4. There were also two black VW Golfs, both 2.0 FSI derivatives.

Yengeni was whisked away in the black CLS 350, which has a price tag of R579 000

The price for a Range Rover Sport starts at R675 000.

Just where do Tony and his friends get all the money to buy and operate these expensive new cars?

Most of them are MPs and ANC party officials.

Other parties' MPs and officials mainly seem to be driving beat-up, 10-year vehicles.

It is fair to ask whether these ANC MPs and party officials are not getting big wonga splodges so that they keep quite about what's happening above them in the party and the government, as well as ask just the "right" questions in SCOPA meetings, like :
"May I object to the cost of that bicycle shed"; and

"On a point of order, Chairperson, may I suggest that we move on from debating this tiresome point of whether the SA Navy actually order its warstock of 16 Exocet surface-to-surface missiles out of the Special Defence Account or were they surreptiously acquired though its yearly running budget?"
