Jacob Zuma's ongoing spat with the South African Revenue Service (Sars) was "resolved" in Durban, the attorney for the African National Congress deputy president said on Wednesday.

Zuma's attorney Michael Hulley said: "The matter has been resolved."

Hulley refused to comment further.

Sars spokesman Adrian Lackay was not immediately available for comment. Zuma was served with a summons in February. The Independent on Sunday at the time reported that the summons questioned the completeness of Zuma's disclosure of his income and his failure to submit a tax return.

Hulley told the newspaper that the return had been filed late. "We have no comment... we consider Mr Zuma's tax affairs to be private and so there is nothing to say," he was quoted as saying at the time.

Exactly how the matter had been resolved on Wednesday, was not immediately clear.
