The South African Communist Party (SACP) expressed concern on Thursday that the judgement in African National Congress (ANC) Deputy President Jacob Zuma's appeal case was leaked to the public before it was officially given in court.

"What worries the SACP is the manner in which the details of the judgement found its way to the public before the official pronouncement.

The party was reacting to Supreme Court of Appeal judgements upholding an appeal by the National Director of Public Prosecutions against a Durban High Court order setting aside a total of five search warrants against, amongst others, Zuma and his lawyer Michael Hulley.

"This indeed does cast doubt on the credibility and the independence of the institutions of our criminal justice system."

The party also said it believed the length of the investigation and the manner in which it had been conducted compromised its credibility.

Jacob Zuma had been the victim of "unfair and unjust treatment".

"Sensitive sectors of the state like intelligence, prosecutions and the public broadcaster have been polluted by political factionalism.

"This is indeed a political trial," said the SACP.

What does the SACP know that we don't?

And they need to provide some evidence on their allegations.

Normally I'm quite quick to hear about these kind of things and I only heard a snippert after the court had delivered its judgments and only got the judgments them, selves at 10:30 CAT from an official source.

It certainly seems like a case of "the lady protesteth too much".

It is interesting that (I heard on the radio) neither Zuma, nor Hulley, nor Mohamed not Pierre Moynot were in court to hear the judgments against them.

Maybe the SACP put 2 plus 2 together and got 3 or 5.
