Johannesburg - Acting National Director of Public
Prosecutions
Mokotedi
Mpshe on Saturday said a decision whether or not to prosecute ANC deputy
president
Jacob Zuma and National Police Commissioner
Jackie
Selebi would be made soon.
According to an SABC report, Mpshe said both Zuma and Selebi's cases had to be
finalised as soon as possible, to avoid uncertainties and finger-pointing.
Mpshe was a guest speaker at an awards ceremony for best prosecutor in Mafikeng
in the North West.
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu) in KwaZulu-Natal has called
on its members to be on what it terms a "provincial state
of alert" in preparation for the possibility of the NPA reinstating
charges against Zuma.
Cosatu provincial secretary Zet Luzipho said they believed that the political
conspiracy against Zuma had reached - what he called - "its
explosive destiny".
He said they believed that criminal charges against Selebi would be used as a
decoy in what he saw as a political conspiracy.
