Looming Large: A child sits beneath a poster of newly elected ANC leader
Jacob Zuma . A reader says his election has put the ANC's future in doubt

The confirmation of Jacob Zuma as the president of South Africa's largest
liberation movement has created a cloud of doubt about the future of the ANC and
the country.
That delegates decided to blindly vote in a clear bloc is
immature, amateurish and smacks of bitter
politicking.
Zuma is a populist, who based his whole campaign on
gaining people's sympathy by
misleading them that he was being prejudiced against and wrongly accused
for political reasons.
Many people forget that Zuma has been in a senior ANC position for more than 15
years now.
He was involved in the decisions that were taken even before President Mandela
came to power. What is his track record within the movement?
What are his notable contributions during this period? Is Zuma the most suitable
candidate to lead the ANC to its centenary? Is he credible enough?
Economically, South Africa is classified as a developing country.
We are way behind other developing and developed countries
in more ways than one.
We need to adopt the strategies and best practices of other successful
countries so we can improve our economic performance. I know it's a bitter pill
to swallow for others, but capitalism is the way to go.
South Africa cannot explore untested ideologies at this crucial period.
The battle for the soul of the ANC has really begun. The ANC has been hijacked,
but it will be recovered.
