The Constitutional Court will on March 11 and 12 hear Jacob Zuma's application
to have the Scorpions' search and seizure raids on his home declared
unconstitutional, reported SABC television news.
The Constitutional Court action challenges a Supreme Court of Appeals (SCA)
ruling made on November 8.
The SCA ruled that the five warrants used to search the premises of Zuma, who is
president of the African National Congress, and his attorney, Michael Hulley,
were legal.
However, Zuma and Hulley claim the raids violated their constitutional rights to
privacy and dignity.
In papers filed with the Constitutional Court, Hulley contends that the SCA was
divided in its decision with three judges ruling in favour of the State and
three against.
"The outcome in the SCA has simply demonstrated that the issues are contentious
and of principle.
"It is thus clear also that there are reasonable prospects of success on
appeal," he said.
Hulley said the search and seizure warrants gave permission for documents
related to the investigations into Zuma to be seized, but that the problem was
the warrants never "remotely described" the investigation.
