Zuma : I Never
Asked for My Day in Court
|
Jacob Zuma has denied he ever said that he "wants his day in court".
Briefing the media at Polokwane yesterday, Zuma said his statement was
interpreted out of context.
"I was being asked in public about allegations against me and I said: 'If I have
to answer any allegations I will do that in court'.
"I never said that I want to have my day in court," he said.

*1 Researchers will have to go back
to recordings and transcripts of what was said and what might not have been said
to determine the absolute truth of this.
It actually might be a very good first assignment for next year's crop of second
or third year journalism or history students at a clutch of tertiary education
centres around the country.
R200 to the Mountain Gorillas of the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the
first finder of such an attributable statement, R100 to the second different
one.
But the point is that this statement was attributed to Zuma about two years ago
and to my knowledge it has never been denied until now.
It was very convenient up until now to adopt such a position as it it had been
said because that would portray the position of being confident of acquittal.
That confidence seems no more.
Roll on the new indictment and very weighty KPMG Report No. 2.
These'll make two of the better items in Santa's stocking. Hopefully, we
don't have to wait too long for either of them.
