The article "Zuma team to probe arms deal" (January 9) reveals more of the Jacob Zuma team's agenda than it does about their pursuit of truth and justice.

According to the article, they are setting out to prove that they have been "unfairly treated in this case".

What concerns me is that there is no effort to employ an independent team to do the evaluation. A team that has no inherent necessity to prove one way or the other.

Thabo Mbeki's team seemed to prove one thing, and now Zuma sets out to prove something else.

My fear is that with enough effort and time, they can prove whatever they set out to prove.

So, as far as this probe goes, the conclusions have already been decided, and the rest is just the road show.
