The Ecuadorian Air Force has taken a step closer to acquiring 12 Cheetah
aircraft previously operated by the South African Air Force after naming Denel
Aviation as a preferred bidder.

A strange posting on Business Day's
website today 6 October 2009.
But if these 12 Cheetah fighter jets are good enough for Ecuador, why are they
not good enough for South Africa?
And what's happening with the other 26 flying aircraft and about a dozen
non-flying spare airframes and engines.
This one needs to be watched like a hawk raptor.
The last time the SAAF tried to sell used fighter jets was about 20 old Mirages
with new MiG engines.
The deal was almost done when Chippy announced to the flabbergasted negotiating
parties ( I think in Dubai or UAE) that he also wanted a cut (more likely a
bigger cut) and the deal fell through.
Dinkum?
Dinkum.
They all need to be watched like a hawk raptor.
