************* ANC Statement on Yengeni Sentence *************

The African National Congress has noted the sentence handed down in the trial of ANC National Executive Committee member Tony Yengeni.

The ANC has also noted the statement by Yengeni's lawyer that he intends appealing against the sentence.

As the matter is therefore still before the court, the ANC will not make a substantive statement at this point. It will do so once all legal processes have been completed.
