Rev Frank Chikane on the Matter of the Heath "Organograms"

STATEMENT BY DIRECTOR-GENERAL OF THE PRESIDENCY, REVEREND FRANK CHIKANE,
ON THE MATTER OF THE HEATH 'ORGANOGRAMS'

23 January 2001

The Presidency

1. The Office of the President has noted reports which have sought to discredit the recent statements made by the President with regard to the 'organograms' purporting to show President Mbeki's and President Mandela's involvement in corruption relating to the Strategic Defence Procurement Package, including those of the so-called author.

2. The Office of the President reiterates that these 'organograms' are among the documents that Judge Heath refused to make available to the Minister of Justice.

3. The deliberate propagation of untruths about this matter will not change this reality.

4. The Office of the President further reiterates its challenge to Judge Heath to produce any evidence that he may have of government corruption.
