Patirica de Lille, leader of the Independent Democrats, commented on Ngcuka's resignation request as follows, "It is a sad day for corruption busting in our country. Bulelani Ngcuka instead of getting a pat on the back for the good work he has done, he got a political kick up the butt. He is going exactly the same way as Judge Heath, who was a victim of his own success."
