SACP Statement on Investigations by German Prosecutors on South Africa’s Arms Deal |
Media Statement

Maleka, SACP spokesperson
The SACP is extremely concerned and disturbed about the
continuing and latest allegations in the media about the circumstances
surrounding the tender processes in the South African arms deal. We are
particularly disturbed about the allegations emanating from the German media
about a bribe allegedly paid to a senior South African politician on the arms
deal. We hope that the German authorities will leave no stone unturned to get
into the bottom of these allegations, so that no cloud continues to hang over
the arms deal.
Our concerns also arise from the fact that there are still
too many allegations around the South African arms deal, and this does not augur
well for the image of our country in general, and that arms deal in particular.
In order to get to the bottom of all these allegations, the SACP also
calls upon our National Prosecutions Authority to be seized with these new
allegations, and proactively approach its German counterparts towards a thorough
and conclusive investigation. As the SACP we will closely monitor all these
developments.
